STABILIZATION OF CLAYEY SOIL IN BAVARIA, GERMANY

F. J. Stetter GmbH, based in the town of Rainau in the state of Baden-Württemberg, is one of Germany’s leading companies in the field of soil stabilization.

For 40 years, the company has served its clients with the improvement and consolidation of land for small and large construction sites, as well as recycling asphalt and restoring roads.

“Our founder, Franz Josef Stetter, was also a pioneer in the sector. He contributed to the development of a new method for soil stabilization and perfected it over time”, explains Joachim Stetter, the company’s technical director.

“Specifically, he found a way to make land suitable for load-bearing again, with lime and other binding agents spread across the surface of the soil, milled and then compacted. These innovations allowed us to position ourselves as a recognized partner to civil engineering and construction businesses in Germany”.

Today, the family-run business is growing, with more than 30 employees and a cutting-edge fleet of vehicles, including eight self-propelled machines and five millers for soil stabilization.

Recently, Stetter acquired the high-powered, 445 hp Claas Axion 960 tractor  and decided to pair it with a new FAE STABI/H/HP-250 soil stabilizer. He chose to outfit the attachment with F/3 teeth for their durability and ability to work on stony soil.

“Our Claas tractor and the STABI/H have been in use for a few days on a construction site south of Munich. The job consists of stabilizing clayey soil to a depth of 40 cm for a ring road in the area of Taufkirchen. We anticipate a total volume of 100,000 m³ of soil will be stabilized on this site”, continues Joachim.

“With the STABI/H/HP-250, we can mill clayey/sandy soil down to a depth of 40 cm, as previously mentioned, but it actually works well even to a depth of 50 cm. It operates at a speed of 10 m/min., with a fuel consumption rate of 58 l/h”, remarks Joachim.

“We’ve had really positive results from working with this pair of machines”, continues Joachim. “We’ve had excellent results in terms of milling, even after just one pass. This combination of equipment, which is to say the tractor and the stabilizer with integrated wear protection system, has won our complete confidence”, concludes Joachim.

We are delighted that an FAE has contributed to the success of a company whose passion for innovation, expert team of specialists, proven experience and cutting-edge fleet of vehicles have earned it a sterling reputation both nationally and internationally.
